CHURCH COVENANT

The Church Covenant is what forms the expectations for the members of our church. It is not a complete list of expectations for Christians given in the Bible, but a brief summary of what each member is committing to live out as a member of our faith community. We believe it is a faithful expression of Biblical teaching.

Our Church Covenant:

Having been led by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior,

And on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

We do now, in the presence of God, angels and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to build authentic relationships, and walk together in love; to avoid all gossip, slander, and division.

To support this congregation’s ordinances, doctrine, and discipline. To be faithful in meeting together for worship, fellowship, growth, and ministry.

To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel to all peoples.

We also endeavor to maintain personal and family devotions; to build strong relationships in our families; to spiritually nurture our children, and to share our faith with our family, friends, and acquaintances.

To follow Christ in every area of our lives; to be just in our dealings with others, faithful to our commitments, and outstanding in our behavior.

To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation. To be ready to seek and grant forgiveness; to care for each other in our times of need.

To remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness, crisis, and distress; to cultivate feelings of empathy for one another in our conduct and speech.

To always be ready to give an answer for the hope we have in us, as we wait patiently and look expectantly for the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Furthermore, we engage that when we leave this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
